Join the Maltalingua Team

Ready to turn your passion for teaching into an unforgettable Mediterranean adventure?

If you’re a qualified English teacher with a sense of curiosity and adventure, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. Maltalingua School of English is looking for enthusiastic, creative teachers to join our award-winning team in Malta, a sun-kissed island that’s as inspiring to live in as it is to teach on.

Why Malta?

There are few places in the world where you can teach English in such a unique cultural and natural setting. Malta blends British heritage with Mediterranean charm: warm weather, stunning beaches, friendly locals, and English as an official language. It’s the ideal place to teach, travel, and grow professionally all at once.

You’ll spend your days helping students from all over the world improve their English, and your free time exploring a historic island full of cafes, sea-view walks, and crystal-clear swimming spots. Whether you’re planning to come for a season or make Malta your long-term home, life here offers a work-life balance that’s hard to beat.

About Maltalingua

Maltalingua School of English isn’t just another language school; it’s a place built around people.

We’re proud holders of the EAQUALS Certification of Excellence, one of the most respected accreditations in English language teaching. Our school has been recognised for its high academic standards, strong student experience, and innovative teaching methods.

We’re a small, tight-knit team that believes learning English should be immersive, interactive, and enjoyable. The school features large modern classrooms with sea views, a rooftop pool and terrace, and a welcoming student lounge, all designed to create a social, inspiring environment for both students and teachers.

When you join Maltalingua, you’re not just taking a job; you’re joining a community.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re searching for teachers who bring energy, creativity, and heart to the classroom. You might be freshly qualified and looking for your first teaching job abroad, or you might already have experience and want to take your career further in an exciting, international setting.

What matters most to us is that you’re:

  • Friendly, approachable, and open-minded

  • Organised and reliable

  • Motivated to grow as a teacher

  • Keen to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team

If you’ve got a TEFL, CELTA, or DELTA qualification, you’re already well on your way. A university degree is a plus, but not essential. Entry-level teachers are welcome since we offer a paid training programme to help you get started with confidence.

What We Offer

We believe great teachers deserve great support. That’s why we provide an environment that values your development, rewards your commitment, and helps you settle into life in Malta easily.

Here’s what you can expect when you join Maltalingua:

Flexible Opportunities

We offer full-time, part-time, and seasonal contracts, so you can choose the schedule that fits your lifestyle. Whether you’d like to work year-round or just for the summer, we’ll make it work for you.

Competitive Pay

Our hourly rates are highly competitive within the Maltese EFL market, with opportunities to increase your earnings as you gain experience and take on additional responsibilities.

Perks that Make a Difference

We know relocating abroad can be daunting, so we’ve made it easier:

  • Paid visa and health insurance
  • Flight contribution up to €250
  • Free airport transfer
  • Deposit-free or free accommodation for hosting teachers (subject to availability)
  • End-of-year bonus for long-term teachers

We genuinely want you to feel supported, both professionally and personally, from your very first day.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your role will be diverse, rewarding, and anything but monotonous. You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Teach General English classes for levels A1–C1
  • Optionally teach Business English or IELTS preparation
  • Lead conversation and pronunciation clubs
  • Teach private students who are looking for extra support
  • Participate in weekly teacher meetings and ongoing training sessions
  • We’re proud to offer a strong programme of continuous professional development (CPD), where you’ll get to share ideas, observe colleagues, and refine your teaching skills.

Our teachers often tell us that Maltalingua feels less like a workplace and more like a shared learning space where everyone supports each other to become better educators.

What Makes Teaching at Maltalingua Special

Beyond the classroom, what sets Maltalingua apart is the sense of community. Students and staff regularly join in on our school activities, from boat trips and cultural excursions to rooftop barbecues and sunset swims. It’s the perfect way to connect with people from all over the world while building memories that last a lifetime.

We encourage creativity both inside and outside the classroom. If you’ve got ideas for new ways to teach English, new workshops, or new student activities, we want to hear them. Teachers here have the freedom to shape their lessons and try innovative approaches that make learning more engaging.

And let’s be honest: teaching English is a lot more fun when you can do it in flip-flops with a view of the Mediterranean.

Support from Day One

Moving abroad to teach can feel like a big step, but we make it simple. From your very first contact with our academic team, you’ll get clear information, quick responses, and practical help every step of the way.

We’ll help with relocation logistics, getting settled, and meeting the team. You’ll also join a warm, diverse staff community where many of your colleagues started their teaching careers just like you and are now thriving in Malta.

Your Career, Your Journey

Joining Maltalingua can be the start of something much bigger. Many of our teachers go on to develop specialisations in areas like exam preparation, young learners, or academic coordination. Some even stay long-term, progressing into senior teaching or management roles.

We’ll support your ambitions, help you gain valuable experience, and give you the space to grow your confidence in a truly international environment.
