When is your birthday? It’s in March.
What time do you work? I start at 6 o’clock.
When is jack’s party? It’s on Friday.
We use prepositions of time to talk about time and to describe when something happened. In English there are different ways to talk about time for example;
IN + months, years, the morning/afternoon/evening
in March, in the morning
ON + days, dates
on Monday, on 16th January
AT + time of day, night
at four o’clock, at night
Now try the prepositions of time quiz.
(1) ____ January 16th, I celebrate Nothing day. This year Nothing Day is (2) ____ Tuesday, so I don’t go to work of course! I wake up (3) ____ 11 o’clock (4) ____ the morning. I read a newspaper and have a big breakfast. I watch television (5) ____ the afternoon. (6) ____ 6 o’clock, I go for a walk a friend. I read a book (7) ____ the evening and I do nothing (8) ____ night. It’s a boring day, but a good day.
Choose the correct word for each gap.
