Our New Cambridge Empower Syllabus
Learning English in Malta has just taken a step forward. At Maltalingua, we’re pleased to share that our whole English syllabus is now based on Cambridge English Empower, a modern, well-researched course that focuses on real communication and on building your confidence from day one.

Empower was developed by Cambridge University Press & Assessment, which brings together their teaching know-how and their well-known English assessment experience. That means you get materials that reflect how English is really spoken and used today. Everything lines up with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), so your progress is structured, measurable, and recognised internationally.
Put simply, you’ll learn the right English, at the right level, in the right order, with content that feels relevant to real life.
What Is Cambridge Empower?
Cambridge English Empower is a general English course for adult learners. What makes it different is the way it blends classroom learning with ongoing assessment and personalised online practice. Every unit is backed by Cambridge research and global language data, so what you learn is useful, realistic, and suited to your level.
Lessons use modern topics, clear visuals, and activities that get you connecting the language to your own life. You’ll work on speaking, listening, reading, and writing in equal measure, so you build communication skills you can rely on outside the classroom.
Assessment is handled in a supportive way too. Rather than stressful tests, Empower uses regular progress checks to guide your learning. Short unit tests show what you’re doing well and where a bit more practice would help. Based on your results, you’re pointed towards online activities that focus on exactly what you need to work on.
There are also mid-course and end-of-course tests written by Cambridge exam specialists. These give you a clear picture of your progress, along with a personalised CEFR report, so you always know how far you’ve come.
