Join the Maltalingua Team
Fancy turning your teaching into a Mediterranean adventure?
If you’re a qualified English teacher who likes a bit of curiosity and adventure, this could be the move you’ve been waiting for. Maltalingua School of English is looking for creative teachers to join our team in Malta, a sunny island that’s as good to live on as it is to teach on.
Why Malta?
There aren’t many places where you can teach English in a setting like this. Malta mixes British heritage with Mediterranean life: warm weather, good beaches, friendly locals, and English as an official language. It’s a fine place to teach, travel, and build your career at the same time.
You’ll spend your days helping students from all over the world improve their English, and your free time exploring an island full of cafes, sea-view walks, and clear swimming spots. Whether you come for a season or settle here for the long run, the work-life balance is hard to beat.
About Maltalingua
Maltalingua School of English isn’t just another language school. It’s a place built around people.
We hold the EAQUALS Certification of Excellence, one of the most respected accreditations in English language teaching. The school has been recognised for its academic standards, its student experience, and its teaching methods.
We’re a small, close-knit team, and we think learning English should be immersive, interactive, and enjoyable. The school has large modern classrooms with sea views, a rooftop pool and terrace, and a welcoming student lounge, all there to create a social, friendly environment for students and teachers alike.
When you join Maltalingua, you’re not just taking a job. You’re joining a community.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re after teachers who bring energy, creativity, and heart to the classroom. You might be freshly qualified and looking for your first teaching job abroad, or you might already have experience and want to take your career further somewhere international.
What matters most to us is that you’re:
-
Friendly, approachable, and open-minded
-
Organised and reliable
-
Keen to grow as a teacher
-
Happy to work as part of a supportive team
If you’ve got a TEFL, CELTA, or DELTA qualification, you’re already well on your way. A university degree is a plus, though not essential. Entry-level teachers are welcome too, since we run a paid training programme to help you get started with confidence.
What We Offer
Good teachers deserve good support. So we’ve built an environment that values your development, rewards your commitment, and helps you settle into life in Malta without the usual stress.
Here’s what you can expect when you join Maltalingua:
Flexible Opportunities
We offer full-time, part-time, and seasonal contracts, so you can pick the schedule that fits your life. Whether you want to work year-round or just for the summer, we’ll make it work.
Competitive Pay
Our hourly rates are competitive within the Maltese EFL market, and there’s room to earn more as you gain experience and take on extra responsibilities.
Perks that Make a Difference
We know moving abroad can be daunting, so we’ve tried to make it easier:
- Paid visa and health insurance
- Flight contribution up to €250
- Free airport transfer
- Deposit-free or free accommodation for hosting teachers (subject to availability)
- End-of-year bonus for long-term teachers
We want you to feel supported, both at work and outside it, from your very first day.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your role will be varied and rewarding, and rarely the same two days running. You’ll get to:
- Teach General English classes for levels A1 to C1
- Optionally teach Business English or IELTS preparation
- Lead conversation and pronunciation clubs
- Teach private students who want extra support
- Join weekly teacher meetings and ongoing training sessions
- Take part in our continuous professional development (CPD) programme, where you’ll share ideas, observe colleagues, and sharpen your teaching
Our teachers often tell us Maltalingua feels less like a workplace and more like a shared learning space, where everyone helps each other become a better teacher.
What Makes Teaching at Maltalingua Special
Beyond the classroom, what really sets Maltalingua apart is the community. Students and staff regularly join our school activities, from boat trips and cultural excursions to rooftop barbecues and sunset swims. It’s a lovely way to meet people from all over the world while you’re at it.
We encourage creativity inside and outside the classroom. If you’ve got ideas for new ways to teach English, new workshops, or new student activities, we want to hear them. Teachers here have the freedom to shape their lessons and try new approaches that make learning more engaging.
And let’s be honest: teaching English is a lot more fun when you can do it in flip-flops with a view of the Mediterranean.
Support from Day One
Moving abroad to teach can feel like a big step, but we keep it simple. From your first contact with our academic team, you’ll get clear information, quick replies, and practical help at every stage.
We’ll help with relocation logistics, settling in, and meeting the team. You’ll join a warm, diverse staff community, where plenty of your colleagues started out just like you and are now thriving in Malta.
Your Career, Your Journey
Joining Maltalingua can be the start of something bigger. Plenty of our teachers go on to specialise in areas like exam preparation, young learners, or academic coordination. Some stay long-term and move into senior teaching or management roles.
We’ll back your ambitions, help you build experience, and give you room to grow your confidence in a genuinely international setting.
