CEFR English level
There are many rooms in a house, some houses are big and have many rooms. The most important rooms in a house are the ones we use every day. Here is a list of the name’s of the rooms we use every day:
In the kitchen, people cook their food and clean their plates. Some people eat in the kitchen too.
The Dining Room
The Dining Room is where people eat, where families and friends enjoy their food together.
The Living Room
In the living room, people watch TV and have fun with their family and friends. Some people read in the living room and some others sleep in the living room.
In the bathroom people have a shower or a bath to get clean, people use the toilet and wash their hands.
In the bedroom people go to bed, they sleep at night and wake up in the morning. Some people dream at night but some others can’t remember their dreams.
The Garage is where people keep their cars and store extra things that do not fit in the house.
The Laundry Room
In the Laundry Room, we wash our clothes to make them clean, we dry are clothes and we iron our clothes to make them look nice.
This is the room where people read, research and study for important exams or lessons.
Read the questions below and type the correct room.
Following on from the success of our Malteser and Pool competition, Maltalingua is again offering you the chance to win a language trip to our school in Malta.
In another chocolate-based competition, we have filled a large jar full of Smarties (19 Liters). We naturally counted every single Smartie (!) and the total number in the jar is a top secret and only known by one person.
To enter the competition simply guess how many Smarties are in the jar and you could be in with a chance of winning a two-week course at Maltalingua including accommodation, airport transfers, participation in three activities per week and course materials. On top of all this, Maltalingua provides its students with a course certificate on completion, free internet access to keep in touch with friends and family and keep on top of your homework(!), student discount card and welcome pack and an invitation to the world-famous (well, maybe not world-famous) welcome party.
When entering, please let us know either why you think Malta would be a great place to learn English and/or tell us about something you find particularly strange, interesting or funny about the English language – and try to be creative and original!
And don’t forget to include your guess on the number of Smarties in the jar. The competition will end when the correct number has been guessed!
If you’re looking for something to fill your afternoons and evenings when you’re not studying, Malta will not disappoint this October with plenty going on all month. Here are some highlights.
A world record 60-hour dive challenge (3rd – 5th October) is being attempted by Sean McGahern accompanied by World Record Diving Malta who will clean debris from the sea bed to raise environmental awareness and encourage marine preservation. You can participate too – simply email email@example.com for details.
Fancy a laugh? Join international comedians Stuart Goldsmith, Felicity Ward and David Fulton at the LOL Stand-Up Comedy Show (5th – 6th October).
The Garden of Knowledge Malta Association are presenting an Indian Film Festival (1st – 6th October) to celebrate cultural diversity and promote links between Malta and India. For a more locally focussed experience, the Primal Inspirations art exhibition (4th October – 2nd November) showcases art capturing rural Malta. Valletta is once again host to Notte Bianca on 5th October when the city comes alive in a spectacular celebration of people, culture, food and arts. Iljieli Skalin (19th – 20th October) is a chance to enjoy exhibitions, music and food around St. Thomas Tower and an excursion to the fortifications of Marsaskala.
The annual Mdina Grand Prix (10th – 13th October) is being held in the stunning location beneath the Bastions of Malta’s old capital city and is not to be missed for motor sports enthusiasts. For football fans, there is an opportunity to cheer on your host country when Malta face the Czech Republic in a World Cup qualifying match at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium on 11th October.
Fun, sun and confidence in English with Maltalingua’s Junior Course
If you’re aged between 8-12 or 13-17 and want to extend your summer, have some fun AND learn English, Maltalingua’s junior language course is ideal for you! Malta is a beautiful island with an extremely pleasant climate and, due to its location in the Mediterranean Sea, is still warm even in October!
A course at Maltalingua gives you the opportunity to study English with other kids and teenagers in a British owned and run school with an international environment. Class sizes are small and there is great focus on personal, individual attention to the students, both in and out of the classroom. All teachers carry a certification to teach English as a foreign language so the quality of the school and its teaching is extremely high.
Learning at Maltalingua does not take a break when lessons are over! The ALL (Active Language Learning) method of teaching combines in-class tuition with outdoor active learning so you can ‘learn by doing,’ gaining experience of real-life situations while fully immersed in an English speaking environment. Maltalingua School of English also offers a comprehensive programme of social, cultural and sporting activities as well as evening entertainment so you can spend your free time making new friends and practising your English! You can also visit the school’s new Beach Club which is open all year round (weather permitting), just off Mellieha Bay, the largest beach in Malta, and enjoy lunch and use of the facilities.
As the only language school in Malta which is open during the autumn holidays, this is a great time to benefit from the special offer where you can save up to €100 off the normal cost on an English course (see flyer for details). You can discover more and get an impression of what your stay will be like by watching the video in the link below. We look forward to seeing you soon!
