Jeremy Glass, an EFL Teacher at Maltalingua School of English, has been presented with the ‘Inspiring ELT Professional of the Year 2019’ award at this year’s 6th ELT conference.
Having worked as an EFL Teacher for over 40 years, Jeremy has taught thousands of students from all over the world. He started teaching in a secondary school in Malta before travelling overseas and then eventually returning to teaching in Malta with Maltalingua.
The award is given to the professional in the industry who has done the most to inspire those around them, and is voted for by their colleagues. There were 30 nominees this year, but Jeremy had the most votes and so was given this prestigious award by the ELT Council.
Jeremy was recognised for his enthusiasm, passion, and reliability to his students, colleagues and the industry.
One colleague said, “He has been teaching for decades, but he is still enthusiastic and passionate about it. He would do anything to help his students learn.”
Another said, “He is extremely supportive and very experienced in the field of ELT as well as being highly qualified.”
Mark Holland, the Managing Director of Maltalingua said, “This award could not have been given to a more likeable and humbler professional. This is the highest recognition an EFL teacher in Malta can receive, and Jeremy has not only accepted his award graciously, he has dedicated his prize and donated his winnings to the rest of his team. I have the greatest respect and admiration for Mr. Jeremy Glass and I wholeheartedly thank him and the rest of his team, led by our Director of Studies, Mr. Michael Porritt, for their tireless dedication to our students and each other.”
