My Son's Experience In Maltalingua's Junior Summer Camp

Dan Besse is a French expat living in Malta. His son came to our English summer camp in 2024 and now has 4 weeks booked in 2025. He’s been kind enough to share his experience with Maltalingua and why he decided to book with us again. Ā

Baptiste, his son, lives in France. He will turn 10 this summer. He was born profoundly deaf and now lives with cochlear implants in both ears. So today, it’s with deep emotion and pride that he shares his experience at Maltalingua.

Why did you choose Maltalingua?
When I was searching for a language school for Baptiste to learn English, I came across many options, but Maltalingua stood out. It offered a combination of learning and fun activities, which I thought would be the perfect way to introduce him to a new language in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

How did your son feel before coming to class?
Before his first day, he was full of worries and had many questions and complaints, like, ā€œWhy do I have to go?ā€ ā€œI don’t want to learn English.ā€ ā€œDo they speak French?ā€ So yes — it was a bit stressful for him at first.

Did he enjoy the classes and English teachers?
Yes, he really enjoyed the experience — though to be honest, he probably loved the activities even more than the lessons! šŸ˜„ He was happy every morning to go, and each day we checked what he had learned. He didn’t talk much about the teachers specifically, but he seemed very comfortable, so I assume he was happy with them.

Did he enjoy the activities?
ā€œEnjoyā€ isn’t a strong enough word — he loved the activities and knew them all by heart. One of his favourites was going to Bellavista, eating a hamburger at the restaurant, and swimming in the afternoon. He was also incredibly proud of making chocolate!

Did he make friends?
Yes, he made friends. At first, most of them were French, and he told me it was fine because he could still speak with others, too. Later on, he began to connect with kids of other nationalities — as far as I remember, he made friends who were Italian, Turkish, and Spanish.

Was he happy with the experience?
As I mentioned earlier, it was a real pleasure for him — and for me, too. Seeing my son immersed with other children, all learning English together — it was beautiful. As proof of that, he’s coming back this year, and I didn’t even need to insist when I asked if he wanted to return. I’m very proud of him.

What did you like about Maltalingua’s service?
I love the balance between learning and fun. It’s a great mix of lessons and activities, meaning children are learning while also feeling like they’re on holiday. It’s like working and relaxing at the same time.

Thank you, Dan! And Congrats to Baptiste! 🄰

We thank Dan enormously for his kind words, and we are very excited to receive Baptiste here again in 2025 for more amazing experiences!
