Maltalingua has been named a finalist in the StudyTravel Star Awards 2026, shortlisted in the English Language School Europe category.
The winners are announced at the awards ceremony in London on 5 September.
An award voted for by agents, not judges
The ST Star Awards are decided by the study travel industry itself. The agencies and educational consultants who place students with schools around the world are the ones who vote, and they vote on the basis of what their students tell them afterwards.
There is no application form to polish and no panel to win over. A school appears on the shortlist because the people who send it students chose to put it there. That is why this particular list means more to us than most.
The fifth time in this category
This is the fifth time Maltalingua has been shortlisted for English Language School Europe, following nominations in 2020/2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025.
The school has also been shortlisted twice in the Junior Course for Under 18s category, in 2022 and 2023.
What we think keeps us on the list
Nothing about how we run the school has changed, and that is rather the point.
Adult classes are capped at twelve students. Not twelve in the quiet months and twenty in August – twelve all year round, peak summer included. Junior groups average fifteen and never go above twenty.
Everything happens in one building in St Julian’s, so students are not walking between rented classrooms scattered across town. There is a rooftop pool and a terrace where people actually spend their afternoons, which does more for someone’s spoken English than another worksheet would.
The school is accredited by EAQUALS, the international body for quality in language education, and is inspected against its standards.
What happens next
Winners are announced on Saturday 5 September at the ST Star Awards gala in London, held during the ST Alphe UK conference.
